Has The Perfumed Dandy mentioned that since starting out on his amazing adventure in the Wicked Wild West that is the World of Women’s Perfume he has amassed from dear readers an astonishing array of now over 500 suggestions of once forbidden ‘female fragrances’ that you consider fit for a gentleman to wear?
Well, The Dandy has most certainly mentioned it now!
Being ever one to share both the love and the wisdom, I have taken it upon myself to spread cognisance of these suggested scents far and wide each Saturday (this week Easter arrived and so the post has been delayed until now).
Such is the premise of our weekly peek inside the The Perfume Dandy’s Library Catalogue.
What follows is the eighth installment of ’20 scents one never knew a man could wear’ that may tickle either your fancy or your funny bone…
If you would like to further the cause of one of the fragrances, getting it a step closer to the dizzying heights of The Perfumed Dandy’s Hit Parade kindly respondez-vous to this post.

Dear Mr Dandy
A great selection with a bit of everything! I’d like to know more about Premier Jour and the beautiful Dita Von Teese. But I’ll happily read whatever you review.

Would love to hear about Calandre and Ivoire (worn by moi over 30 years ago). Was just gifted these two vintage and pristine…divine!
Also, Noa went through many a bottle as it was non-offensive and adored by children.
can’t wait for these to come!
Dear Brie
Yes, I think it’s the vintage of the Ivoire that I need to get my hands on… the current reformulation received quite a big push here towards the end of last year.
I’ve been led to believe it was the precursor to the whole Balmain range being made available again.

I’m looking forward to the review on Ivoire, Opium and Dolce Vita. Yes, Dandy, I’m already aware of your feelings for Angel. 😉
Gripping
Dear Gripping
Oooops. Perhaps I gave too much away with that comment on Angel.
Actually I think what I was trying to say is that I find the endless flankers that Mugler produce a little mind-numbing.
Angel was not for me, but it does have some admirable qualities!

I would like to know your opinion of the new Ivoire and also of Dolce Vita. I used this one habitually from 1995 and in spite of several reformulations it is still … happiness.
Hello Mitsouko
Your very special selections are duly noted…. Ivoire does seem like a popular choice and Balmain have yet to let The Dandy down!

Liqueur de Parfum happens to be my favourite version of Angel. And I’m dying to know what Dita Von Teese Rouge smells like, since her first perfume smells wonderful.
Dear Nena
Another vote for the truly seductive Dita!

Calandre and Ivoire, please.
And also 1969, please!
All I can say here is that I absolutely love Ivoire. I compared the vintage and modern a while back, and the vintage is slightly better. I got it from The Perfumed Court. But both are soapy, soft, and wonderful. I look forward to reading your opinion!
Dear Joan
Thank you so much for that insight into the difference between vintage and current versions of Ivoire.
I’m hopeful to get my hands on some of the old stuff to inform the review, but it’s always cheering to her that a modern perfume isn’t a complete imposter.

Balmain Ivoire old or new.
They are of course different scents but the new one is actually pretty good.
Hello Perfumed Dandy
While there are some delightful scents on the list I feel that Davidoff is calling your name. The bottle is less than amazing so maybe it is hiding a delightful little known gem?
Dear Rabbit
Welcome to The Dandy’s…. do make yourself at home!
I love nothing better than a hidden gem, so that could be right up my street…
Your selection is noted down in the leather bound ledger.
Yours ever
