The Eve is upon us all!
So five smells and fragrances that match to get us all mellow and in the mood.
Of course, Christmas Trees start arriving in our homes earlier each year… I spotted some in November this season!
But it is today that they should officially begin their stay straight through from now to Twelfth Night.
If there’s a flacon more festive than Annick Goutal’s Nuit Etoilee it’s yet to catch The Dandy’s eye.
This ‘starry night’ of a scent is a forest walk beneath moonlight.
At first, conifer cones crunch beneath the feet on frosty soil then immortelle adds softness and a sweet edge, the tree is taken inside and draped with deliciously gaudy decorations.
Gather round for gifts…
More to come.
Yours ever
The Pefumed Dandy.
That’s such a pretty bottle. Wouldn’t that one make a lovely gift? I’ve yet to sample Nuit Etoilee but hopefully I will sometime soon.
Dearest Lily
I gave a bottle of Nuit Etoilee as a gift to a dear friend, so I’m so glad to hear that it cuts muster in that department.
It’s rather wonderful if one likes the ‘Goutal House Style’, though many people seem not to.
Most definitely worth a try.

The Perfumed Dandy
I do enjoy the Goutal House style, though some I like better than others. So much sampling to look forward to in 2014!
Dearest Lily
I’ve noticed that Goutal seems to get a lot of bad press amongst perfumistas. I’m never really sure why. As you say some are much better than others, but when a perfume truly hits home such as here, Ninfeo Mio or Mandragore they are wonderful.

I hope it is a starry night in London! Wishing you a beautiful, fragrant, delicious, Christmas…(I’m not done yet!)…surrounded by love and cheer. xox, V
Dearest V
And the very same to you…
The night is thundery here and The Dandy is in the midst of the mountains, having returned to ‘the Land of My Fathers’ for the festivities.
We hope for better weather tomorrow, though the food is more than compensation!

It is a pretty shade of blue. I read somewhere they’re changing it to one of their more typical neutral tones; a shame if true.
Dearest Leather
Yes, that woud be a shame. They do seem to be standardising the design of this range, but I rather liked the blue glass here and the deep bottle green of Ninfeo Mio.
Ho hum. I do like a little diversity!

I agree with Leathermountain – adorable bottle, hope they don’t change it. I quite like Nuit Etoilee, it’s good that Goutal are still experiemental.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas Sir Dandy and a Happy New Year – I look forward to more of your wonderfully entertaining reviews in 2014!
Dearest Dearest Rose
And a Joyous Christmas and Simply Splendid 2014 to you too!

The Perfumed Dandy
I got this perfume last year partially because of the bottle – it’s so beautiful. If you like it (or its “masculine” counterpart) hurry up: new packaging is boring.
Dearest U
As we’ve all bemoaned here, uniformity seems to be encroaching everywhere, even though it is mostly unwelcome!
Season’s Greetings!
