Burning bras, ending wars… 1969 Parfum de Revolte by Histoires de Parfums The Perfumed Dandy’s Scent Today

A spicy, slightly gourmand scent for Summer?

Well, The Dandy, has been going on about how something a little ‘heavier’ can work in the evening even in warm weather!

Now, it would appear, it’s time to put my own words to the test..

Let’s hope I don’t have to eat my straw boater hat!

The opportunity remains to choose other perfumes to be placed on The Dandy’s skin when The Hit Parade returns in the autumn.

If you would like to thrust forward a fragrance for future fame simply visit ‘Suggest and old scent or recommend a new one’ and leave your recommendation there.

Have an especially fragrant day!

Yours ever

The Perfumed Dandy.

Why thank you! I wish they were mine, but the only skill here is in uncovering them.
They do speak so redolently of the spirit of the time though.
Especially that rather forward young woman who seems to be thoroughly enjoying all the attention her protest is garnering her!

I suppose all the men in the photo were in favor of the bra burning. Look at them! They’re all so amused. And there are no women in the crowd watching. I like the photo underneath, too – the grimness of the 60s, and the message on the banner. I wish that Americans today would mobilize (once more) in solidarity to hold accountable their true oppressors. Gosh, I sound like a radical. Just show me a couple of photos and I’m off and running.

      Indeed they do.
The entirely male audience and the overwhelming preponderance of suits and ties – even in free lovin’ San Francisco – didn’t escape my attention either.
Having revealed your true self to us we must keep an eye on you in case you turn out to be the proverbial ‘red under the bed’!

Nah, I’m not so red. I just like to see people stand up for themselves and for the truth. What I really believe in is philosopher kings, but they don’t exist anymore. 😉

Of course being a ‘European Pinko Liberal’ The Dandy would hardly be one to point fingers, besides, I’ve always had a certain sympathy for the idea (could ever be anything more?) of Philosopher Kings myself.

  3. I’m curious to read your impressions on this perfume.
