A Sense of Spring… The Perfumed Dandy’s Seasonal Selection

Dearest Alls

As some of you may have gathered, The Perfumed Dandy has taken his leave from The Big City for a little weekending away beside the sea.

However, he has not taken his leave of his friends!!!

On my wanderings yesterday I chanced to take a few photographs, some of which I share here with you today.

Perhaps you could suggest some perfumes that might go with these splendidly sunny Springtime images?

The Perfumed Dandy will post his own suggestions before the holiday is out…

It would be such fun to compare notes!!

I can’t imagine any perfume as delightful as those natural scents, Mr. Dandy. But I will try to think of a few today. How nice to see the wild ponies! I hope you enjoy your weekend away. Iechyd da a hwyliau da!

    • Lilybelle

I’m sorry that “Ole Lilybelle” ^^^ came up again. It must have defaulted to it. I think Chanel Sycamore smells like salty driftwood in a beach bonfire.

      • Dearest Lilybelle
It seems your alter ego is all too keen to post here too… they are welcome: the more the merrier
Sycomore is a lovely suggestion, especially as it has the splendidly pronounced vetiver or wild grass note…

    OMG how beautiful!
I envy everybody who is living in short distance to the sea. I don’t know where the pictures were taken but I love the place!
    Fitting fragrances?
Heeley Sel Marin or Ael-Mat by Lostmarch

Enjoy your trip Mr. Dandy 🙂

    • Dearest Miss Misty
It’s around three and a half hours to that particular patch of sea, which is on an island of the coast of Wales… but well worth every minute of travelling time so far as The Dandy is concerned!
I only know the Heeley from your recommendations… but am now keen as mustard to try the wonderfully named Ael-Mat.

  3. Pics are great and I don’t doubt for a second you’re having a wonderful time.
My suggestion would be anything by Burren perfumery. 🙂

Lovely! I’ve just been doing the very same today – taking photos of the countryside. For the ponies I’ll say L’Air de Rien because it has a touch of manure, in the smallest and cutest way! There’s got to be a good suggestion for the mosses and lichens, a lovely chypre, but I know there are posters here who know their chypres better than me!

    Dandy,

The first photo screams Vetiver to me.

Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, eh? Gotta be strong and bunctious…something by Penhaligons. Not Hammam Bouquet.

    • Dear HMJ
Welcome to The Dandy’s, do make yourself at home won’t you!?!
Yes, something for the Diiamond Jubilee… there were a plethora for Queen Elizabeth’s just last year, I wonder what they did for Queen Victoria.
As beloved as I am of Hammam Bouquet, I have to agree it’s no outdoor aroma.

  6. Dear Mr Dandy

The first seascape makes me think of Acqua di Parma Arancia di Capri and the Stone Walls and Sky makes me think of Jolie Madame, since it has Chalkiness and Moss and Invigorating air.

    Have a wonderful time!

  7. Dear DandY:
I’m hooked by this post, Dear Dandy. The pictures let me blown away. XOXOXO

  8. Cairo Rose

    Dearest Dandy,
So nice to see you are having a few days to rest by the sea Very invigorating. The picture of the grass reminds me of Monet’s picture of his wife holding a parasol by the sea with the salty air whipping her scarf around her. I guess that image plus the ponies and all I can think of is Elizabeth Arden’s Blue Grass. Enjoy your time and keep the pictures coming we enjoy them so!
    Yours as always, Rose

    • Dearest Cairo
The Dandy knows exactly the picture you mean… at least he thinks he does!
Blue Grass is an excellent visual description of the scene, but all those aldehydes? Maybe, there can be something suggestive of ozonic sea air about them…

What an intriguing reading… of course blue can be icy cool as well as warm!
Moreover, you and I may well be at one with one of our choices!
Thank you for your fascinating note.

  10. The first one makes me think of flouve absolute. It’s a grass 🙂 What a great vacation! Thanks for posting your pics 😀

    • Dear Alchemist
Anthoxanthum odoratum I believe? The grass in the picture did indeed have a slightly sweet hay-like quality, though there was a lot of air-caught salt around the blades too.
So pleased you enjoyed The Dandy’s humble snaps!
      Yours ever

  11. Dearest Dandy,
Might I suggest Bobbi Brown’s “Beach?” It might be a little summery and perhaps it smells a bit like expensive sun tan lotion, but I can’t help loving the beachiness of it. Throw on a pair of Clam diggers and a cozy cable knit sweater (I imagine it’s still a bit cold there) take a brisk walk along the shoreline and gather sea shells in an old pail. Later that night you’ll feast on a delicious dinner – maybe a Lobster Bisque to start? This sounds more like Cape Cod than Cornwall! haha! Where exactly are you spending your week? Are you on an island?
    Gripping

    • Dearest Gripping
The Dandy’s back in London Town now, and reunited with the perfume collection.. and no bad thing since the weather changed horribly this morning.
You were spot on with the cableknit – I was sporting a lovely naval blue one as I took the snaps and went home to a Thai fish soup… so not a million miles away from Lobster bisque at all!!
Now, I’m not at all averse to tanning lotion scent… Jil Sander Sun Men (totally unisex) is actually a rather lover example of the genre… I’ll definitely keep an eye out for the Bobbi B.
Oh.. as to location I was on Ynys Mon, off the North Coast of Wales.

  12. No perfume suggestions but I just wanted to say that those are beautiful pictures! It looks like you were having a great time. Thank you for sharing! 🙂

    • Dear Undina
With a place as beautiful as that it’s difficult even for a rank amateur like The Dandy to take a bad shot!!
Thank you though for your kind words, and yes I had a splendid, if too short, time.
      Yours ever
