Chers Amis,
‘Tis the time of year for The Dandy to take to waters… fashion dictates it!!!
Therefore I am headed for a few days to the splendid spa town of Bath, where facilities both ancient and modern allow one to ‘have a cure’.
From whence I will off to the former industrial powerhouse of the world…
Which apparently has more miles of canals than…
Well, fact is often stranger than fiction!
I shall be posting some snaps of my travels over at the Facebook and keeping touch via twitter, with those who care to spend an idle moment in chatter.
I shall also be redoubling my efforts to have my gag removed by thoses darlings at WordPress, in order that I might possibly be able to respond to your comments at some point!!
Until my return therefore (which I hope will be all singing and dancing) around the middle of next week…
Au revoir!!
Yours ever
The Perfumed Dandy.
PS The splendid picture of the Grand Canal in Venice featured in this piece is by the estimable photographer Nico Trinkhaus. He makes his excellent images available via a Creative Commons license in return for a mention and a link to his website at www.Sumfinity.com, with which I am more than happy to oblige. Enjoy your marvelous holiday!
Dearest Mary
I did indeed enjoy… and swam in the steaming pool and shopped in Christmas markets and each too much is never enough food!
Yours ever

Happy travels, dear Mr. Dandy! I look forward to your postcards on Facebook. xo
Dearest Lily
I hope the snaps did not disappoint… the holiday most surely didn’t. A change is as good as a rest and this was both!
Yours ever
The Perfumed Dandy
The snaps were lovely, and I’m glad you enjoyed your time away, but it’s even lovelier to have you back.
Dearest Lily
And so lovely to be here and at liberty to speak….
Yours ever

Have the loveliest of times, dear Dandy!
Dearest Cheryl
I did indeed.
Thank you for the kind wishes!
Yours ever

For a minute I thought you were off to Birmingham! Bath, now that’ll be lovely (having said that Birmingham’s an underrated city, I know lots of lovely people there). Let’s hope WordPress sort themselves out, I know I don’t just speak for myself in missing your interesting exchanges and entertaining conversation. By the way, I discovered the loveliest Christmas scent – Cimabue by DSH perfumes – wonderful tangy oranges with lashings of saffron and cinnamon, if you liked Theorema I think you’d love Cimabue!
Have a wonderfully peaceful and festive time Sir Dandy
Dearest Rose
The canal-crossed city was Manchester, which I reached by way of Bath.
Bath was, of course, quite beautiful, but Manchester: perhaps the most underrated of all British cities was stunning.
Such great art and architecture and people of true spirit to.
Cimabue does sound darned tempting…. consider it added to the list (it sounds awfully festive in a fabulous way).

Have a wonderful trip to Bath. I know that train trip from London well. I loved visiting the Roman baths. ( I have a coin of Nero on my key chain that has turned from black to silver that I bought in the gift shop) Also loved sitting on the bench outside the Assembly Rooms and thinking of “The Duchess” with Miss Knightly.
Dearest Lanier
Ah… The Assembly Rooms… there may be a snap or two to share of there before the week is out. The most spectacular chandeliers and we all know how The Dandy loves a bit of illuminated cut glass!

Have a wonderful trip!
As to replies to the comments here or commenting elsewhere, you do not have to doit through WP credentials if for some bizarre reason they cannot resolve it for you. Just register another user, e.g. TPD with WP, Gravatar or any other service that is an allowed form of identification on your blog, add your regular picture – and we won’t even notice that it’s a different account. If, of course, you do want to comment 😉

Thank you for the very sensible and practical advice (The Dandy has many strong suits, but practicality is not one of them).
As it happens, going on holiday seems to have done the trick beautifully… all it needed was a little break and all has corrected itself.
Good advice heeded for next time… though how could you ever imagine I should not want to talk to you all!! The very idea!!!!
Yours ever
The Perfumed Dandy
We all need a little break now and then (even websites 🙂 ). I’m glad you’re back.
I didn’t really mean that you were avoiding talking to me (us) but for me, being a very practical person, it was completely unfeasible that somebody would complain about the situation but not figured out if not a solution than at least a work-around. So in that aspect I, probably, have a so-called “male mentality”: if I hear a complaint I’m looking for the ways to resolve the problem, not just to sympathize with it.
Have fun!
Dearest Nena
Thank You… that was a command I found it all to easy to obey!
Your ever
The Perfumed Dandy
Have a safe and lovely trip Mr. Dandy!
Dearest Miss Misty
It was safe and sound and profoundly lovely to… though I’m ever so pleased to be back!
Yours ever

Bath is a wonderful escape, enjoy your trip!
Dearest Batkitty
Bath was as luxuriant and relaxing as a long soak in a favourite essence!

Sounds like heaven! Have a wonderful time!
Dearest Hound
Thank you so – I managed to do just that!
